Why did the R370 grant Status Decline?
It’s important to understand the potential reasons behind this decision. Here are some common factors that may lead to a declined application:
Identity Verification Failed
Sassa matches your personal information with the Department of Home Affairs if it does not match, you will receive an “Identity verification Failed” message. There is a possibility of a Typo error in the application.
Other Sources of Income
Your monthly income must not exceed R624, Sassa will check the bank details of all the applicants to confirm it. If it surpasses this limit your application will be rejected.
Other Social Grants
If you are already receiving other social grants from Sassa then you are not eligible for SRD grant and your application will be rejected.
Government Payroll Registered
Individuals who are government employees are not eligible for SRD grant. Your application will be declined if you are gov employee.
UIF or NSFAS Grant Registered
Sassa will decline your application if you are registered under any of other social grants. (Child support, Older person, Disability grant)
Age Outside Range

Deceased in DHA Records

How to Fix SASSA grant application Declined?
You can appeal to Sassa for reconsideration, it is recommended to appeal in the month when your grant is declined. Online reconsideration appeal
- Visit the SASSA appeals website at https://srd.dsd.gov.za/appeals.
- Enter your ID number and the phone number used during Sassa application process.
- Request a PIN, which will be sent to your registered phone number.
- Once received, enter the PIN and select the month for which you want to appeal.
- Choose the reason for the appeal and submit your request. Await the outcome of your appeal.
- Submit a separate appeal for each month your application was declined.
