SASSA APPEAL – Reconsideration & Check Appeal Status

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) provides essential grants to individuals without income or employment, helping them meet their basic needs. Unfortunately, some applicants may encounter a rejection in their SRD grant status due to high application volumes or processing errors. SASSA allows beneficiaries to appeal the decisions on their declined application status. This guide will explain the SASSA appeal process and provide you with the information you need to effectively stand up for your rights.

Important Note: Appeals are now managed by the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA) instead of SASSA. This change aims to ensure a fair and unbiased review process for all appeals.

Understanding Reasons For Application Rejection

To appeal a declined SRD grant application, it’s important to know why it was rejected. Common reasons include mistakes in income verification, wrong employment status classification, or problems with the documents you submitted. Understanding the reason for the denial can help you create a stronger appeal.

SASSA gives applicants a reason for their declined status, which is important for figuring out how to fix the problem. By knowing the specific reason for the rejection, you can take the right actions, like collecting more documents or explaining your job situation.
